Getting started

How do I create my first story?
Open the app, tap "New story," and start talking — or type if you'd rather. Don't worry about structure or grammar. We'll shape your words into a beautifully written draft you can edit before saving.
Do I need to be good with technology?
No. If you can leave a voicemail or send a text, you can use LifeScribe. The whole experience is built around one big button: speak.
What if I don't know what to say?
Tap "Need a prompt?" and we'll give you a gentle question to start with — things like "tell me about your first job" or "what was your mother like?"
How long should each story be?
Whatever feels natural. Some are two minutes; some are twenty. Short stories are still stories.
Can I edit a story after I record it?
Yes. You can rewrite, expand, or trim any draft — and the original audio is always saved alongside it.

Capturing stories

Can I record someone else's story?
Yes. Hand them your phone, hit record, and ask them a question — or invite them into your family vault and they can record on their own time.
Does it work in noisy environments?
It does, but you'll get the best results in a quiet room. The transcription engine is good — but it's not a miracle worker at a Thanksgiving dinner.
What languages does it support?
English, Spanish, and Portuguese fully today. French, German, Italian, and Mandarin in beta. More on the way.
Can I add photos and documents to a story?
Premium members can attach photos, scanned documents, and audio clips to any story. Free members can attach one image per story.

Family vault

How do I invite family members?
From your vault settings, tap "Invite" and enter their email or phone number. They'll get a private link — no app needed to start.
Can different members have different access?
Yes. You can mark members as Editors (can contribute and organize), Listeners (read-only), or Askers (can send prompts but not see other people's stories).
What happens if the storyteller passes away?
The vault and every story stays — forever. The family member you've designated as Keeper inherits administrative access. Nothing is lost.

Account & billing

How do I cancel my subscription?
From Account → Billing, tap "Cancel." You'll keep Premium access until the end of your billing period, and your stories stay yours forever — even after cancelling.
Do you offer a free trial?
Yes — 30 days of Premium, no card required. The Free plan is also genuinely free, forever.
Can I get a refund?
Absolutely. We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on Premium. Email us and we'll refund you — no questions asked.
Are my stories really private?
Yes. Encrypted at rest and in transit. We never sell or share your data. Only you and the people you choose to invite can see your stories.
How do I export my stories?
From any story, tap Export to download as PDF, plain text, or audio. From your dashboard, you can export your full archive in one click.
