The Mirror is built only from what you actually gave it — your chapters, your answers, the way you phrase things. Nothing is imagined, and nothing is borrowed from anyone else.
If you'd like, Quill can learn the sound of your voice from a few short readings, and your Mirror can answer aloud in it. That is entirely your choice, and you can switch it off at any time.
You decide what your Mirror may talk about, what stays private, and who is allowed to ask. Some things are for everyone. Some are for one person. Some are for no one — and it will say so, kindly.
Before anyone else meets your Mirror, you do. You read what it believes about you, correct anything wrong, and approve it. It is never finished behind your back.
It would rather say "I don't know" than make something up

It shows its work
When Quill tells you something about your life, it shows you which of your stories it came from. Every time. If it can't point to one, it won't say it.
Nothing without your yes
Your voice, your photographs, your stories — each needs its own permission, given out loud or by tap. Every one can be withdrawn later, in the same place you granted it.
It's yours to end
Delete your voice, export everything you've written, or close your account entirely — real buttons that do exactly what they say, with time to change your mind.
The honest answers
Is this replacing me?
No. The Mirror is a record of what you chose to preserve, in the way you chose to say it. It doesn't have opinions you never had, and it doesn't pretend to be alive. It is closer to a letter that can answer a question than to a person.
Do I need to be good with computers?
No. You press one button and talk. The text is large, nothing moves on its own, and there's no time limit on anything. If you'd rather type than speak, everything works that way too.
What happens to my stories?
They're yours. They stay in your Legacy Library, they're never sold or shared, and you can export or delete them at any time. Family only see what you invite them to see.
Do I have to use my own voice?
Not at all. Quill has several voices you can choose from, and plenty of members never record their own. If you do want your voice, it takes a couple of minutes — and you can turn it off afterwards.
I already use LifeScribe. Do I start over?
No. Everything you've already written — your chapters and your quests — comes across the first time you sign in, and Quill reads all of it before your first conversation. You'll sign in with the same email and password.
Can my family see it while I'm alive?
Yes, if you'd like them to. You choose who's invited and what each person can ask about. Many members share their Legacy Library long before anyone thinks about the Mirror.
